NHL Note - Buffalo Sabres Lehner, Robin
Dec 29, 2017 - 8:14 AM G Robin Lehner of the Buffalo Sabres said the NHL "predetermined" that his team would lose a video goal review with 1:09 remaining in regulation of Wednesday night's game against the New York Islanders. Lehner appeared to make a glove save on Josh Bailey with the Sabres (9-20-8) nursing a 2-1 lead over the Islanders (20-13-4) late in the third period. Play continued for 35 seconds before a halt in the action, with the save in question being reviewed to see if the puck -- while inside Lehner's glove -- had crossed the goal line. Much to the 26-year-old Swede's dismay, the league ruled in favor of the Islanders. "I know Toronto (site of NHL's hockey operations) already made up their mind it was a goal before they shot the puck. It's just how it works in this league," Lehner said after Buffalo's 3-2 overtime loss to New York. "Everything is predetermined against us. It's not to be sulking or anything. We're not where we want to be or anything like that. It's just how it is. The Islanders are in a playoff spot, and you know, it is what it is."No one has shouted yet.
