Thrashers activate D McCarthy

Nov 30, 2006 - 11:23 PM ATLANTA (Ticker) - The Atlanta Thrashers' blue line got a bit healthier Thursday, when defenseman Steve McCarthy was activated from injured reserve.

McCarthy, who missed eight games with an "upper body" injury, was one of three blue-liners sidelined for the Thrashers. Garnet Exelby currently is on IR with mononucleosis, while Andy Sutton is out indefinitely with an ankle injury.

The 25-year-old McCarthy, who last played on November 8, has recorded a goal and eight assists in 16 games this season. Drafted 23rd overall by Chicago in 1999, the British Columbia native has collected 13 tallies and 41 points in 217 career contests with the Blackhawks, Vancouver Canucks and Thrashers.
