Cleary presence could sway Woods to stay
Apr 11, 2017 - 10:13 PM The signing of new West Tigers coach Ivan Cleary could be enough to persuade the team's captain Aaron Woods to stay put at the embattled NRL club."So far I have been enjoying it, we have Ivan for just over a week now and he is a real simple guy and that is what I like," Woods told Sky Sports Radio on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old prop is in the midst of high-profile negotiations and is hopeful of making a decision on his future within weeks.
Woods said he was enjoying training under Cleary, who was signed to replace sacked coach.
"The really good thing about Ivan was when he came in he was like 'I am not going to change everything, I am not going to change much', he just wanted to fine tune a few things," Woods said.
"I think it sort of shows and it was lot less stressful for the boys - they just went out there and did their jobs."
When asked whether the coach could sway him to stay with the West Tigers, Woods replied: "Yes, obviously"."
Woods admitted the speculation about his future had taken its toll on him and his family.
"I'd be lying if I said it wasn't tough," he said.
"(My wife) thinks it's days of our lives. It never ends.
"She just wants me to come to a decision soon and hopefully we can with the way everything is going at the moment."
