NSW's Frizell cleared of serious injury
Jun 5, 2017 - 4:37 AM Tyson Frizell's chances of lining up for NSW in State of Origin II have been boosted with the St George Illawarra back-rower cleared of a serious rib injury. The Blues lock was taken to hospital after copping an elbow to the sternum from Tim Grant in Saturday's win over the Wests Tigers.
The Dragons said scans had cleared Frizell of any serious damage and he was a chance to line up this week in an effort to prove his fitness to NSW coach Laurie Daley.
"Frizell will be monitored through the week to determine whether he'll play on Monday against the Bulldogs," the Dragons said in a statement.
With Origin II just over two weeks away, any injury would have cast doubt over his position in the NSW starting pack and could have opened the door for Dragons teammate Jack de Belin.
