Josh Reynolds ready for Foran NRL showdown
Jun 19, 2017 - 2:49 AM Josh Reynolds is back just in time to deliver a message to Kieran Foran, the man whose arrival next NRL season has pushed him out of his beloved Canterbury. After almost two months out with injury, Reynolds is expected to return for a head-to-head duel with Foran when the Bulldogs play the Warriors in Friday night's clash in Auckland.
After getting his life back on track in his native New Zealand, Foran has signed to return to Sydney next year to play under his former NRL mentor, Canterbury coach Des Hasler.
The decks were cleared for Foran's arrival at Belmore when Reynolds accepted a rich four-year deal to be part of the Wests Tigers' rebuild, with the Bulldogs offering much less money.
Canterbury prop Aiden Tolman revealed on Monday that Reynolds would return from the hamstring injury which has kept him out since round nine in late April, setting up a showdown which promises to have plenty of feeling.
"(Foran) is here next year but we've also got Josh Reynolds coming back from an injury as well," Tolman said of facing Foran.
"Josh is going to be fired up and he's going to be ready to play. He's been hurting the last couple of weeks watching us go out and under-perform."
There is simmering anger among some sections of Bulldogs' fanbase after the club failed to hang onto passionate former local junior Reynolds.
This is despite the fact the Bulldogs were blown out of the water by the Tigers' deal for his services which is worth a reported $3 million.
Asked if Reynolds was hurting at having to leave the club, Tolman said: "I think so.
"He's a local junior, he bleeds blue and white.
"He's disappointed but that's professional sport. Players move on every year from a club they probably think they're going to stay at their whole career.
"But that's rugby league, we're all grown ups, we can deal with it."
