Penrith re-sign Harawira-Naera until 2020
Jun 28, 2017 - 3:00 AM Penrith have staved off a handful of rival clubs to re-sign rising rookie second-rower Corey Harawira-Naera until the end of the 2020 NRL season.Harawira-Naera has emerged as a keeper for the Panthers after racking up an equal team-high six tries since making his tryscoring debut for the club in round four.
He has since cemented a spot on Penrith's right edge following injuries to regular starters Bryce Cartwright and James Fisher-Harris.
"Corey is another one of our players who has come through the Panthers development pathways to play first grade for this club," Panthers boss Phil Gould said.
"He was a member of our premiership-winning NYC team in 2015 and has now firmly established himself in the NRL side."
Harawira-Naera's extension means the Panthers entire 17-man line-up named to take on South Sydney on Sunday is on the books next season.
Sitaleki Akauola, Michael Oldfield and Sione Katoa are the only players to have appeared for the club this season that are without deals beyond November.
