Hayne has NRL future at Titans: Tallis

Sep 6, 2017 - 7:25 AM Every sporting organisation would want Jarryd Hayne and Gold Coast are no different, Titans NRL ambassador Gorden Tallis says.

A question mark might hang over Hayne's next move after the Titans' sacking of coach Neil Henry over a reported feud with their star.

But Tallis on Wednesday talked up Hayne's value at the Titans, saying any sport would be happy to snap up the controversial speedster, despite a history of making headlines for all the wrong reasons.

"We were all talking about him when he was in other codes but, now he is back, we bag him," Tallis said.

"There wouldn't be a sporting organisation that doesn't want him.

"I know what he brings to rugby league. There are more headlines about Jarryd Hayne than not and I would rather see that.

"I think he is fantastic and the kids know him.

"He went over to America and cut the mustard in the biggest game over there and I think he did it within 12 months.

"I have a lot of faith in Jarryd Hayne. I love the way he plays."

Hayne's management have warned their client's entire $1.2 million 2018 salary will have to be paid out if the Titans show him the door.

But Tallis has faith in Hayne finally buying into the Titans culture under a new coach and could have a future on the Gold Coast.

"If he has a good off-season and buys into the system, there's no doubt the Titans will want Jarryd Hayne," he said.

"The good thing about Jarryd Hayne is that he is playing for a contract.

"And he might dream he wants to win an NRL grand final."
