Hartley to remain England skipper: Jones
Mar 21, 2017 - 2:33 AM Eddie Jones says he expects Dylan Hartley to continue leading England despite persistent calls for his demotion.Hartley has been at the helm for successive Six Nations title conquests but his place in the team is based on his leadership rather than contribution on the pitch and he is repeatedly replaced during the third quarter of games.
Jamie George, the form hooker in English rugby, has added more when arriving off the bench but Jones is standing by his skipper.
"Dylan is an outstanding captain and does a super job. There's no reason why he won't continue to do a super job," Jones said.
"It's like when Mike Brearley captained the England cricket team - everyone questioned him, then he won the Ashes and no-one questioned him.
"I thought he was better than he was in November - and there's no reason why, the next time he comes in, he can't be better than he was this time.
"As long as he keeps improving, he's in the right direction, like every other player."
