FC Dallas, Toronto FC earn 1-1 draw

Jul 24, 2010 - 10:58 PM TORONTO(AP) -- Milton Rodriguez scored in the 77th minute to give FC Dallas a 1-1 draw with Toronto FC on Saturday.

The goal, assisted by David Ferreira, came after Dallas gained a corner kick on Toronto's sloppy defensive play.

Maicon Santos scored in the 61st minute for Toronto.

Toronto is unbeaten at home this season at 5-0-4 and is 6-5-5 overall. Dallas is 6-2-8.

Toronto FC was coming off its first MLS loss in more than two months last week in Philadelphia.

Dallas goalkeeper Kevin Hartman made a highlight save in the 23rd minute, tipping a shot off a free kick by Dwayne De Rosario. Hartman came up with another big save in the 45th on Chad Barrett.

In first-half stoppage time, Nick LaBrocca's attempt was deflected over the goal by a defender.

Toronto's newest player, Miguel Angel Ferrer MartDinez entered the game in the 56th minute. Toronto FC's second designated player replaced Amadou Sanyang, who was shaken up in front of the Dallas goal after a corner kick.

Hartman stopped De Rosario's header in the 58th minute and Santos could not get the rebound. Three minutes later, Santos scored on a pass from Julian de Guzman. It was the first MLS goal for Santos for Toronto after he was picked up from Chivas USA on July 9.

The 2-1 loss in Philadelphia on July 17, was the first for Toronto since a 2-1 defeat at Real Salt Lake on May 5.
