Wondolowski double leads 'Quakes past Dallas
Mar 27, 2011 - 3:19 AM Frisco, TX (Sports Network) - The San Jose Earthquakes got two goals from Chris Wondolowski to top FC Dallas, 2-0, at Pizza Hut Park on Saturday.Wondolowski, who won the Major League Soccer Golden Boot last season, opened the scoring in the fifth minute when defender Chris Leitch chipped the ball over the FC Dallas back line. Wondolowski ran onto the ball and ripped it home with his left for his first goal of the season.
Joey Gjertsen set up Wondolowski for the 'Quakes' second goal in the 23rd minute when he crossed to the near post. Wondolowski then headed home from close range for his second goal of the game and season.
Wondolowski has now scored the last 12 regular season goals for his club.
FCD (1-1-0) will aim to rebound at Columbus next Saturday, while San Jose (1-1-0) hopes for more of the same vs. Seattle the same day in its next MLS fixture.
