Chivas USA earns draw at Columbus

May 29, 2011 - 1:48 AM Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - Chivas USA and the Columbus Crew battled to a 3-3 draw in Major League Soccer action at Crew Stadium on Saturday.

The Goats' Nick LaBrocca opened the scoring just four minutes in with shot from in tight off a Justin Braun service.

But the Crew equalized in the 17th when Andres Mendoza scored the first of two goals in the game. Mendoza got on the end of an Emmanuel Ekpo service on the right side and blasted just inside the far post to make it 1-1.

Chivas went back up, 2-1 20 minutes later when Andrew Boyens headed home a heath Pearce corner kick.

A Mendoza goal pulled Columbus level again in the 52nd before Jorge Flores put Chivas USA back up five minutes later.

But Ekpo pulled the Crew level in the 64th minute with a right-footed blast from in tight after he corralled the ball and turned on it.

Flores received his second yellow in the 69th to put the Goats down a man, and the game slowed considerably afterward, as things tightened up.
