Rapids hand Dallas its fourth straight loss

Oct 2, 2011 - 3:19 AM Commerce City, CO (Sports Network) - FC Dallas continues to struggle in Major League Soccer regular season play, falling to the Colorado Rapids 1-0 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park on Saturday.

It is the fourth straight loss for Dallas, which is 1-6-1 over its last eight league matches.

The Rapids now move to within a point of Dallas in the Western Conference standings thanks to a Drew Moor goal midway through the first half.

In the 26th minute, a corner kick from Sanna Nyassi found Moor, who slipped past his defender to head home the lone goal of the game.

FC Dallas received a bit of hope to turn things around in the 74th minute when Miguel Comminges was sent off after being issued a second yellow card, but it failed to turn its man-advantage into an equalizer before time expired.

Both teams retain their positions in the table, but fifth-place Colorado (45 points) closes the gap on fourth-place Dallas (46 points) as they look to solidify places in the postseason.

FC Dallas (13-11-7) returns to league play on Oct. 12 when it travels to Pizza Hut Park to face the in-form Chicago Fire, while Colorado (11-9-12) has its next league match on Oct. 14 against Real Salt Lake at home.
