FCD continues to roll with DCU defeat

May 12, 2013 - 2:35 AM Frisco, TX (Sports Network) - FC Dallas continued its rich vein of form by claiming a 2-1 win over D.C. United at FC Dallas Stadium on Saturday.

The Frisco club went in front through Jackson early on only to see Dwanye De Rosario level the score for United, but Je-Vaughn Watson scored his first goal of the season to lift Dallas to all three points.

The win brings FC Dallas (7-1-3) to an MLS-high 24 points on the season. The club extends its unbeaten run to nine matches, suffering its only defeat of the season on March 10.

D.C. United (1-8-1) continues to struggle as the club has lost seven matches in a row. The club, winless in its last eight overall, has claimed an MLS-low four points through its 10 matches thus far.

The opening goal came just 12 minutes into the affair as Eric Hassli released Jackson into the box, allowing the FC Dallas attacker to fire a shot past Joe Willis, who was deputizing in United's net for Bill Hamid.

D.C. managed to steal an equalizer just before the break as De Rosario slammed a free kick past Chris Seitz and just inside the far post.

The two sides remained level until the 77th minute when a curling corner kick delivered by Michel was turned in by a scrappy finish from Watson.

FC Dallas had several chances to extend the lead in the closing stages of the match, but the MLS-leaders failed to find a third goal.
