Fire burns Crew with second-half rally

Jun 23, 2013 - 2:11 AM Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - The Chicago Fire used a surge early in the second half to secure a 2-1 comeback win at the Columbus Crew on Saturday, extending the club's unbeaten streak to five games.

The Crew took the lead after just seven minutes when Federico Higuain converted from the penalty spot.

But the Fire scored two goals in the first nine minutes of the second half to seize the lead as Dilly Duka netted the equalizer against his former side, while Mike Magee continued his hot start to life in Chicago with his fourth goal in as many league games for the Fire.

Columbus pressed hard in an attempt to level the match over the final 20 minutes, but the home side came up short and has now won just once in its last five fixtures.

Dominic Oduro set up the early goal for the Crew when he stole the ball in the attacking third and drove into the penalty area before Fire goalkeeper Sean Johnson came off his line and brought down the forward.

Higuain stepped up and beat Johnson with a shot inside the left post, but Chicago responded early in the second half.

Joel Lindpere played provider on both Fire goals, and the first arrived in the 52nd minute when his cross from the left wing was played to the back post for Duka, who scored on a lunging volley.

Magee was next to benefit from Lindpere's service as he redirected the ball into the net with his chest from six yards in front of goal.

The Crew had two good chances to equalize when Oduro had a shot stopped by the legs of Johnson in the 79th before Bernardo Anor's volley eight minutes from time was sliced just past the right post.
