Johnson helps DCU tie Montreal

May 18, 2014 - 1:18 AM Washington, D.C. (SportsNetwork.com) - Eddie Johnson picked a fine time to score his first MLS goal with D.C. United.

The United States international netted a goal six minutes from time at RFK Stadium on Saturday to see United salvage a point from a 1-1 draw with the Montreal Impact.

After a scoreless opening period, Jack McInerney broke the deadlock in the 56th minute, taking a square pass from Justin Mapp and poking home a goal against the run of play.

Montreal looked likely to hold on for all three points until Johnson struck in the 84th minute, sending a thumping header past Troy Perkins in the Impact net.

D.C. (4-3-3) improves to 15 points on the season, eight points better than Montreal (1-5-4).
