Montreal halts New England's unbeaten run

Jun 1, 2014 - 1:10 AM Montreal, QC (SportsNetwork.com) - The Montreal Impact put an end to the New England Revolution's seven-game unbeaten run on Saturday by getting a 2-0 win at the Stade Saputo.

The hosts needed only three minutes to take the lead as Andres Romero latched on to Marco Di Vaio's exquisite through ball to fire home past Bobby Shuttleworth.

Jack McInerney doubled Montreal's advantage seven minutes before halftime when he pounced on a rebound conceded by Shuttleworth and stuffed it home from close range.

The Impact held on to collect all three points, securing just their second league win of the season.

New England stays atop the Eastern Conference on 23 points, dropping its fourth league match of the campaign.
