TFC breezes past Dynamo
Jul 13, 2014 - 1:16 AM Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - Toronto FC netted four unanswered goals on Saturday to rally for an impressive 4-2 victory over the Houston Dynamo at BMO Field.Coming off a 2-1 home defeat against D.C. United last week, Ryan Nelsen's side was hoping for a fast start but it was the exact opposite of a fast start as Brad Davis scored twice in the first 30 minutes to hand Houston an early 2-0 lead.
But Toronto responded with a brace from Jermain Defoe to go with tallies by Jonathan Osorio and Dominic Oduro to rally for the three points, which lifts the Canadian side to 24 points on the season.
The Dynamo opened the scoring in the 13th minute as Davis collected a nice layoff from Giles Barnes and ripped it past TFC goalkeeper Joe Bendik to the near post.
The second tally unfolded in much the same fashion as a long cross fell to Davis at the far post and he slid it between the legs of Bendik for his fifth goal of the season.
TFC began its comeback in the 39th minute as Houston goalkeeper Tally Hall got his hands on a chipped effort on the end line by Defoe, but the rebound fell kindly to Osorio, who smashed it home.
Oduro leveled the affair in first-half stoppage time as he fired home his own rebound after Hall failed to save his first effort.
The hosts then took the lead in the 63rd minute as Defoe works his way past two defenders into the penalty and slotted it home before finishing his brace in the 89th minute to wrap up all three points for TFC.
With the defeat, Houston remains in eighth place in the Eastern Conference with 18 points.
