Crew clips Montreal behind Anor's brace

Jul 20, 2014 - 1:49 AM Columbus, OH ( - Bernardo Anor scored a second-half brace as the Columbus Crew rallied for a 2-1 win over the Montreal Impact at Crew Stadium on Saturday.

Marco Di Vaio's 35th-minute goal had Montreal up 1-0 at the break, but a pair of long-range efforts from Anor after halftime handed the Impact their third successive loss while snapping the Crew's seven-game winless skid.

Di Vaio was dangerous in the first half and set up a good chance for Justin Mapp before firing an opportunity of his own just over the crossbar.

Mapp turned provider in the 35th minute to set up Di Vaio's goal as he picked out the forward with a pass that allowed the forward to get in behind the defense and slot his shot past goalkeeper Steve Clark.

Montreal goalkeeper Evan Bush did well to keep out a chance from Adam Bedell in the 50th minute when Ethan Finlay's cross was turned on target by a first- time redirection from Bedell, forcing Bush to react quickly to keep it out.

However, Anor was able to finally beat Bush in the 56th with a rocket from outside the penalty area that flew past the diving netminder.

Montreal should have regained the lead in the 64th, but Clark made a fantastic double save to deny Di Vaio and then Andres Romero, while the Crew came within inches of the lead as a glancing header from substitute Aaron Schoenfeld struck the post.

Anor then fired his men in front in the 75th minute with another long-range blast, and Montreal's final chance came in stoppage time when substitute Calum Mallace ripped a shot over the net from inside the penalty area.
