Espindola's late strike sees DCU draw Montreal
Oct 25, 2014 - 10:11 PM Montreal, QC (SportsNetwork.com) - Fabian Espindola struck four minutes from time to help D.C. United close out its regular season with a 1-1 draw against the Montreal Impact at the Stade Saputo on Saturday.Marco Di Vaio handed the hosts the lead in the 26th minute when he latched on to Dilly Duka's through ball and fired a shot past Bill Hamid at the near post.
Montreal held the narrow lead until the closing stages when Espindola worked a short corner kick with Samuel Inkoom, drifted inside and lashed home a left- footed shot from the top of the penalty area.
D.C. United (17-9-8) finishes the regular season atop the Eastern Conference on 59 points for the season while Montreal (6-18-10) stays in the cellar on 28 points.
