Castillo, FC Dallas claim El Capitan in win over Dynamo
Jun 27, 2015 - 4:12 AM Frisco, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Fabian Castillo scored as FC Dallas defeated the Houston Dynamo 2-0 and will retain El Capitan on Friday night at Toyota Stadium.Dallas is winless in its last six games in league play, as for the Dynamo a win would snap its three-game losing skid against FCD to climb back into the middle of the Western Conference table.
FC Dallas opened the scoring when Fabian Castillo drove down the left side and sent a cross in that deflected off Jermaine Taylor's leg and into the net to give FC Dallas a 1-0 lead in the 33 minute.
FC Dallas struck again ten minutes later when Castillo and Mauro Diaz played give and go. Castillo buried the pass in the net for a 2-0 lead in the 43rd minute.
Houston pushed everyone forward but the closest they got scoring was when Giles Barnes' right footed shot from outside the box missed to the left from a direct free kick.
With the win FC Dallas retains El Capitan, the cannon used to signify the winner of the season series between the two teams.
