Akindele leaves it late as FCD clips Galaxy

May 10, 2015 - 2:34 AM Frisco, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Tesho Akindele scored with four minutes to play on Saturday, lifting FC Dallas to a 2-1 victory over the Los Angeles Galaxy at Toyota Stadium.

FC Dallas carved out the first quality chance of the night just three minutes in when Ryan Hollingshead lined up a free kick, but whipped his strike right into the arms of Galaxy goalkeeper Jaime Penedo.

Los Angeles answered with a chance in the 16th minute as Baggio Husidic had a go from distance, but Dallas goalkeeper Dan Kennedy was there to keep it out.

The hosts then had the final chance of the first half when Fabian Castillo got free down the left wing and ripped it on frame, but Penedo covered his near post to keep it out as the clubs went into the break scoreless.

The visitors opened the scoring just prior to the hour mark when Gyasi Zardes found himself unmarked in front of goal to nod home a corner kick off the boot of Stefan Ishizaki.

But FC Dallas pulled level in the 77th minute as Blas Perez got free to fire home his sixth goal of the season before Akindele, the reigning MLS Rookie of the Year, was left alone to fire home his fourth of the campaign and give FCD the lead.

Los Angeles sent numbers forward late on in search of an equalizer as the fourth official's board showed three minutes of added time, but the Dallas defense held out for the victory.
