Ajax moved up to second and pulled within three points of first-place PSV Eindhoven with a 2-1 triumph at ADO Den Haag on Sunday.

Santi Kolk had given the men from The Hague the lead in the first half.

However, goals from Johnny Heitinga and substitute Klaas Jan Huntelaar after the break allowed Ajax to leapfrog AZ Alkmaar and continue eating into PSV's lead, which stood at 11 points a fortnight ago.

Ronald Koeman's side avoided a third successive defeat, but the Eredivisie leaders failed to win in a 1-1 draw at Sparta Rotterdam.

With back-to-back losses at Roda and at home to AZ Alkmaar, wobbling PSV were desperate to return to winning ways and it appeared Jason Culina's strike at the start of the second half may have put them on their way.

Haris Medunjanin replied in the 76th minute for Sparta, however, allowing their title rivals to take advantage.

FC Twente sealed their fourth successive win in the Eredivisie with a convincing 3-0 victory over Feyenoord.

Jeroen Heubach got the ball rolling in the first half, while a double from Kennedy Bakircioglu after the interval ensured the points stayed in Enschede.

Twente remain in fourth - three points behind AZ - while Feyenoord make up the top five, but with an eight-point deficit on their opponents.

Peter Kopteff's late strike enabled FC Utrecht to eke out a narrow 1-0 victory over NAC Breda at Nieuwe Galgenwaard.

Guiseppe Rossini found Kopteff in space before the Finland midfielder curled a delightful 30-yard shot into the top corner for the game's only goal.
