Wizards sign D Conrad to four-year deal

Mar 2, 2007 - 12:18 AM KANSAS CITY, Missouri (Ticker) -- The Kansas City Wizards on Thursday signed defender Jimmy Conrad to a four-year contract.

Financial terms were not disclosed. The signing of Conrad ended rumors that the two-time captain of the U.S. National Team, would take his career overseas.

"I am happy to be with the Wizards for the next four years, and I look forward to bringing the club a lot of success on and off the field," Conrad said. "The level of commitment and the new vision from the new ownership group and coaching staff made it enticing to stay in Kansas City."

Conrad, 30, has been with the Wizards since 2003, registering three goals and 48 assists in 98 matches. He spent the first four years of his career with San Jose.

In 183 games overall, Conrad has tallied nine goals and 78 assists.
