Cunningham's goal lifts FC Dallas past Toronto FC

Sep 5, 2010 - 3:04 AM FRISCO, Texas (AP) -- Jeff Cunningham scored in the 47th minute to help lift FC Dallas to a 1-0 win over Toronto FC on Saturday night, extending its club-record unbeaten streak to 13.

David Ferreira set up Cunningham's goal by looping a pass over three defenders to Marvin Chavez who redirected the ball back to Cunningham, who scored from the top of the penalty box.

Goalkeeper Kevin Hartman came out of the goalie's box and made a sliding save to stop a shot by Toronto's Jacob Peterson in the 90th minute, helping FC Dallas (10-2-10) improve to 8-0-5 during its streak.

Cunningham, who started for the injured Milton Rodriguez, scored his 129th career MLS goal to move three behind D.C. United's Jaime Moreno for the all-time lead.

Both teams struggled for early scoring opportunities as FC Dallas did not register a shot until Jackson Goncalves' attempt in the 24th minute.

Toronto (7-9-6) went 34 minutes without a shot between Ty Harden's attempt in the 5th minute and Nick LaBrocca's in the 39th.

FC Dallas played without starting midfielders Daniel Hernandez and Atiba Harris. Both players missed the game due to yellow card accumulation.
