Freeman hands Dynamo win over Revolution
Apr 18, 2011 - 1:11 AM Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Hunter Freeman scored in the 86th minute as the Houston Dynamo beat the New England Revolution, 1-0, on Sunday night for their first-ever win in the all-time series at Robertson Stadium.Houston controlled nearly the entire match, and had one chance cleared off the line and two more hit the frame, before Freeman notched the game-winner with a deflection off his left hand on the goal line four minutes from time.
Freeman was jockeying for position with New England goalkeeper Matt Reis as a shot off the crossbar floated down near the line, and the ball bounced off the Dynamo defender's hand and across the line from just a yard out.
Houston had never beaten New England at its own stadium in five previous games - four of which were losses.
Bobby Boswell had one of the Dynamo's two shots off the frame and Revs forward Zack Schilawski cleared a ball off the line to help goalkeeper Matt Reis, who made a number of fine saves for New England.
Houston (2-1-2) won its second straight, something it didn't do until the end of last season, and extended its unbeaten streak to four games since losing on opening weekend 1-0 to the Philadelphia Union.
New England (1-2-3) lost its second straight match without scoring a goal, and is winless in four straight.
Houston visits the Chicago Fire for its next match April 23, when New England hosts Sporting Kansas City.
