FCD slips past struggling Toronto
May 12, 2011 - 3:08 AM Frisco, TX (Sports Network) - FC Dallas extended its unbeaten streak to four games on Wednesday at Pizza Hut Park as a first-half penalty kick from Daniel Hernandez was enough to give the Hoops a 1-0 win over Toronto FC.Toronto (2-4-4) was only able to manage a few long-range efforts in the first half, which didn't really trouble Dallas goalkeeper Kevin Hartman, while the home side failed to produce a decent scoring chance until first-half stoppage time.
A ball was played into the penalty area for George John, but he was being held by Toronto's Adrian Cann, giving Dallas a penalty kick.
Hernandez then stepped to the spot and sent TFC goalkeeper Stefan Frei the wrong way, giving Dallas (4-3-2) a lead just before the halftime whistle.
Marvin Chavez had a chance to double the lead in the 72nd minute when he was played into the area on the right by Eric Alexander, but Frei produced a nice save from seven yards to keep his side within a goal.
However, TFC never really managed to threatened the Dallas net, and the club has now won just once in its last eight games.
