Revs host 'Caps at Gillette Stadium
May 13, 2011 - 8:16 PM Foxborough, MA (Sports Network) - Vancouver Whitecaps FC travel to take on the New England Revolution in a Major League Soccer match at Gillette Stadium on Saturday.New England is coming off a scoreless draw vs. Colorado at home last weekend, and hopes to replicate a strong showing while adding to the attack.
"There's a reason why we've got four draws, and it's because our ball in the final third hasn't been good enough to get us the goals to win the games," Revolution coach Steve Nicol told his club's website. "So we need to continue to work on that and hopefully starting Saturday we'll be a lot better than we've been."
This is already the second meeting between the teams in the young season, with them battling to a 1-1 draw on March 5 in Vancouver thanks to Ilija Stolica's late injury time equalizer for the Revs.
"I don't think you're going to see that type of game here," Revs midfielder Pat Phelan told his club's website. "In a way, we didn't really get to see everything that they had because of all the fouls and red cards. It'll be a completely different game. We just have to be ready for whatever comes at us."
Vancouver is coming off two-straight draws and is searching for its first win since its season opener on March 19.
The team is starting to show a more consistent defensive shape in recent games, giving it hope of taking things to the next level in the near future.
"It's just about constantly progressing, moving forward and gelling and developing chemistry," 'Caps midfielder Jonathan Leathers told his club's website. "If we can do that, I think we can be a tremendous team.
Vancouver will be without attackers Atiba Harris and John Thorrington, while defender Jay DeMerit and midfielder Michael Nanchoff are questionable with injuries.
The revs will be without midfielder Ousmane Dabo, defender Didier Domi, and midfielder Marko Perovic, while defender Otto Loewy and Phelan are questionable, and forward Rajko Lekic is probable, all with injuries.
