New England edges Vancouver on Joseph PK

May 15, 2011 - 1:50 AM Foxborough, MA (Sports Network) - The New England Revolution edged the Vancouver Whitecaps FC, 1-0, in Major League Soccer action at Gillette Stadium on Saturday.

A 49th minute penalty kick goal from Shalrie Joseph proved to be the difference after the teams battled to an uneventful stalemate the rest of the game.

New England drew the PK when Benny Feilhaber was fouled in the 'Caps penalty area by Wes Knight.

The loss extends the Vancouver (1-5-5) winless run to 10 games while the Revs (3-3-4) have lost just one of their last four.

The Whitecaps, who don't have a league match this upcoming week, will aim to end the dubious streak when they host Red Bull New York on May 28, while New England plays at San Jose next Saturday in its next MLS match.
