Crew claims first ever win in Houston
Jun 19, 2011 - 2:46 AM Houston, TX (Sports Network) - The Columbus Crew recorded its first ever win at Robertson Stadium in six tries on Saturday, getting a goal and an assist from Bernardo Anor in a 2-0 win over the Houston Dynamo.Columbus (5-4-6) entered the match having scored just one goal in the first half all season, and it looked like another scoreless 45 minutes was in store for the club until Anor stole the ball from Houston's Bobby Boswell in midfield in the 41st minute.
Anor then danced past a Dynamo player and delivered a well-weighted through ball into the path of Andres Mendoza, who collected the pass and drove a low shot past goalkeeper Tally Hall.
The Dynamo (4-6-6) was then reduced to 10 men in the 53rd minute when Anor was fouled by Lovell Palmer, earning the Houston man a second yellow card.
Despite playing a man up, Columbus nearly allowed Houston to equalize as goalkeeper Will Hesmer produced a nice save on Will Bruin before also keeping out a rebound attempt from Colin Clark.
Anor then sealed the win 13 minutes from time when he was on the other end of a low cross from Justin Meram at the back post, but put his shot right back into the chest of Hall.
However, Hall spilled a rebound and Anor knocked it home to give the Crew its second win in eight games, while Houston has now won once in its last nine fixtures.
