RSL travels to Chicago for showdown with Fire

Jun 21, 2011 - 8:59 PM Bridgeview, IL (Sports Network) - Real Salt Lake travels to Chicago to take on a struggling Fire club in Major League Soccer action on Wednesday night at Toyota Park.

RSL (6-3-4) is also slumping as of late, with just one win in its last seven league fixtures. The most recent result was a 1-1 draw vs. D.C. United on Saturday.

"We went through a stretch of a lot of games that we hadn't lost, but it wasn't like we were winning every single game at home," RSL coach Jason Kreis said of sharing the points. "And we didn't lose this game either."

But Kreis was also disappointed that his team gave up a late penalty in the draw, however.

"I think we have to be very disappointed to kind of have three points wrapped up and then give away a counter-attack and to be at the mercy of the referee's decision," he added.

RSL earned its first-ever win at Toyota park last season, where it is 1-2-2 all-time, and hopes to get to .500 on Wednesday.

The Fire (2-4-9) are tied for the most draws in the league this season, but also have just two wins. They are also coming off a 1-1 draw on Saturday vs. New England.

The team has been playing better as of late, but still sits in the bottom half of the Eastern table.

"We're a little disappointed," Fire winger Patrick Nyarko told Comcast SportsNet Chicago after the match. "We felt we had the game in hand."

The team seems energized since the sacking of former coach Carlos de los Cobos and the insertion of interim coach Frank Klopas.

"We came here to push and get the win," Klopas said after the New England draw. "But we'll take the point. It's a difficult place to play, we pushed the game in the second half and we created a lot of opportunities. But in the end, we get a point and now have two games at home."

Starting with Wednesday's match vs. RSL.
