Dynamo to visit White House

May 23, 2007 - 4:23 PM HOUSTON (Ticker) -- The 2006 MLS Cup Champion Houston Dynamo are set to visit the White House and meet with President George W. Bush on Tuesday.

The Dynamo becomes the second MLS team to be feted at the White House after hometown D.C. United in 1997.

"This is a tremendous honor for the Dynamo, given the instant success our franchise had in our new home," team president Oliver Luck said. "We are grateful that President Bush could plan time from his busy schedule to visit with us."

The White House visit will come three days after Houston plays D.C. United at RFK Stadium. The Dynamo will display the MLS Cup in the East Wing, and team members will present President Bush with mementos from the 2006 championship season.

"We're very honored to be invited to the White House," Houston captain Wade Barrett said. "It was a fantastic achievement for us last year, and another in the latest of championships in the state of Texas. We're glad to represent that with the President."
