Crew's perfect mark spoiled by TFC
Apr 6, 2014 - 12:12 AM Columbus, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Toronto FC handed the Columbus Crew its first blemish of the season on Saturday as goals from Michael Bradley and Issey Nakajima-Farran helped the Canadian outfit to a 2-0 win at Crew Stadium.Columbus opened its campaign with three successive victories, but fell behind to a goal from Bradley after 11 minutes while Nakajima-Farran netted his first MLS goal five minutes from time after coming off the bench to secure the win.
After losing 3-0 to Real Salt Lake in its last match, Toronto was determined to bounce back against its Trillium Cup rival. And after Columbus goalkeeper Steve Clark produced a nice save to deny Dwayne De Rosario in the seventh minute, Bradley found the net a few minutes later.
Mark Bloom fed the ball into the penalty area for Bradley, and he drove a low shot through the legs of Clark from a tight angle.
Toronto goalkeeper Julio Cesar was busy after the break as he had to make nice stops on long-range efforts from both Bernardo Anor and Tony Tchani.
Gilberto tried to double the lead for the visitors with a shot that struck the crossbar, but Nakajima-Farran put the result beyond reach in the 85th when he slid in to finish off a cross from Justin Morrow.
Ethan Finlay had the Crew's final chance in stoppage time, but his effort crashed against the crossbar.
