Manneh's late strike saves 'Caps against Galaxy

Apr 20, 2014 - 1:09 AM Vancouver, BC (SportsNetwork.com) - Kekuta Manneh came off the bench to score the equalizer in the 86th minute as Vancouver Whitecaps FC rallied for a 2-2 draw with the Los Angeles Galaxy at BC Place on Saturday.

Robbie Keane's 77th-minute goal put the Galaxy ahead, 2-1, but Manneh earned his team a point with a wonderful strike from 20 yards that denies Los Angeles a third straight win.

Stefan Ishizaki handed the visitors the opener in the 38th minute when Dan Gargan's chipped pass was nodded back to the front of goal by Baggio Husidic for Ishizaki to head home despite the presence of Jay DeMerit on the goal line.

Keane nearly scored early in the second half, but Vancouver equalized in the 67th with a bit of good fortune.

A chipped pass into the area forced goalkeeper Jaime Penedo to come off his line and attempt to clear the ball, only for his effort to be blocked, which allowed Darren Mattocks to tuck a shot inside the far post from a tight angle.

Los Angeles restored its lead 10 minutes later when Rob Friend nodded a ball down for Keane inside the six-yard box, with the Ireland international driving his shot past goalkeeper David Ousted after taking a touch.

However, Manneh helped Vancouver avoid a third straight defeat when he took a pass from Mattocks 20 yards from goal and fired it inside the right post.
