Seattle, Vancouver split the points at BC Place

May 25, 2014 - 1:15 AM Vancouver, BC (SportsNetwork.com) - There was no separating Vancouver Whitecaps FC and Seattle Sounders FC on Saturday as the two sides played to a 2-2 draw at BC Place.

Chad Barrett opened the scoring for the Sounders in the 36th minute, nodding home a cross from Kenny Cooper for his second goal of the season and his first since Seattle's opening match of the campaign.

But Vancouver leveled the score just three minutes later as Erik Hurtado capped a weaving run through the Seattle defense by roofing a shot past Stefan Frei in the Sounders net.

The 'Caps took the lead in the 66th minute when Gershon Koffie capitalized on Stefan Frei's poor positioning by taking his clearance and lobbing a shot into the back of the net from approximately 40 yards out.

Seattle, though, managed to pull one back eight minutes from time through a penalty from Gonzalo Pineda, his first goal of the season.

The Sounders (8-3-2) improve to 26 points on the season to stay nine points clear of Vancouver (4-2-3).
