Akindele helps FCD edge Chivas

Aug 4, 2014 - 4:08 AM Carson, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Tesho Akindele bagged the lone goal at the StubHub Center on Sunday as FC Dallas claimed a 1-0 victory over Chivas USA.

The goal came just four minutes into the second half as Dallas managed to stave off some pressure to collect the win and improve to 33 points on the season.

Chivas, meanwhile, has lost three straight league games to sink to the bottom of the Western Conference with 23 points.

There was little in the way of scoring opportunities, but Dallas managed to take advantage of a well-worked sequence early on in the second half.

Fabian Castillo and Blas Perez unlocked the Chivas defense with a nifty give- and-go, allowing Castillo to square a pass for Akindele to tuck home with a first-time finish.

Castillo hit the post with a left-footed shot in stoppage time, but Akindele's strike proved to be all the visitors would need as they closed out the match to extend their unbeaten run to seven games.
