Seattle, San Jose share the spoils at CenturyLink Field
Aug 21, 2014 - 4:00 AM Seattle, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - Seattle Sounders FC and the San Jose Earthquakes traded second-half goals to share the spoils from a 1-1 draw at CenturyLink Field on Wednesday.Following a scoreless opening period, Seattle wasted little time in breaking the deadlock as Chad Barrett scored just 35 seconds after the restart, taking a through ball from Obafemi Martins and firing a shot past the on-rushing Jon Busch.
But San Jose managed to level the score in the 65th minute when Chris Wondolowski got on the end of Cordell Cato's low cross to the back post and tucked the finish into the empty net.
Neither side managed to break through for a winner as the result leaves Seattle (13-7-3) level with Real Salt Lake atop the Western Conference table on 42 points apiece while helping San Jose (6-9-7) improve to 25 points to climb out of the cellar.
