De Rosario's late goal helps TFC draw Chicago

Sep 14, 2014 - 2:37 AM Bridgeview, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Dwayne De Rosario scored a late equalizer to help Toronto FC salvage a point from a 1-1 draw with the Chicago Fire on Saturday.

Lovel Palmer had handed Chicago a first-half lead, but De Rosario struck in the 89th minute to help Toronto leave Toyota Park with a share of the spoils.

The result sees Chicago (5-7-15) remain second from bottom in the Eastern Conference with 30 points for the season, keeping the club four points back of Toronto (9-11-7).

The Fire went in front after 11 minutes when Sanna Nyassi's corner kick to the near post was turned in by a header from Palmer.

Chicago had a tremendous chance to double its advantage in the 57th minute when Grant Ward was brought down in the box by Joe Bendik, but the Toronto 'keeper made amends for the foul by stopping Jeff Larentowicz on the ensuing spot attempt.

It proved to be a pivotal miss for the Fire as Toronto managed to level the score late in the contest when Gilberto's shot was tucked home on a rebound by De Rosario.
