Anor fires Crew past Union

Oct 26, 2014 - 10:06 PM Columbus, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Bernardo Anor scored at the death on Sunday to lift the Columbus Crew to a dramatic 2-1 victory over the Philadelphia Union at Crew Stadium in the regular season finale for both sides.

Columbus opened the scoring after just 13 minutes as Ben Speas sent Jairo Arrieta through on goal and he easily rounded Union goalkeeper Zac MacMath and slid it into the empty net to put the hosts in front.

Despite being eliminated from playoff contention several weeks ago, Philadelphia refused to give up on their season and found an equalizer five minutes from time when youngster Zach Pfeffer found some space from an Amobi Okugo through ball and slides it home for his first professional goal.

But Columbus grabbed the winning tally with five minutes to play when defender Waylon Francis sent a low cross into the box from the left wing. Tony Tchani turned it on goal and Anor stabbed it home from close range for his seventh goal of the season.

Columbus ends the regular season with three consecutive wins and will head to the playoffs, while Philadelphia ends the season missing out on the postseason for the fourth time in five seasons.
