Orlando City aims to snap skid against Galaxy

May 15, 2015 - 8:19 PM Orlando, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Orlando City will continue its search for a first win on home soil this season when the expansion club welcomes the defending MLS Cup champion Los Angeles Galaxy to the Citrus Bowl on Sunday.

The Lions have struggled mightily on their home turf as both of their wins this season have been away from home against Portland and Houston. The club will try to get back to winning after suffering a 2-1 loss to D.C. United on Wednesday.

The home side opened the scoring after 11 minutes when rookie Cyle Larin produced a spectacular finish from the edge of the area. The 20-year-old striker displayed clinical technique with his finish, blasting his effort into the top corner for his third goal of the season and second in as many fixtures.

But Orlando failed to hold the lead as Kofie Opare found an equalizer in the 70th minute and United claimed all three points when Chris Rolfe hammered home a cross form Jairo Arrieta.

"I don't think that we deserved not to take anything from the game. But, we can't keep killing ourselves," said Orlando City head coach Adrian Heath. "We shoot ourselves in the foot every week. If I'm being realistic, I thought we were the better team tonight. But, hey, it takes experience at times, and tonight we let ourselves down again with people not doing their job."

Los Angeles, meanwhile, will be looking to break an uncharacteristic run of four matches without a win following a 2-1 loss to FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium last weekend.

The visitors opened the scoring just prior to the hour mark when Gyasi Zardes found himself unmarked in front of goal to nod home a corner kick off the boot of Stefan Ishizaki.

But FC Dallas pulled level in the 77th minute as Blas Perez got free to fire home his sixth goal of the season before Tesho Akindele, the reigning MLS Rookie of the Year, was left alone to fire home his fourth of the campaign and give FCD the lead.

Los Angeles sent numbers forward late on in search of an equalizer as the fourth official's board showed three minutes of added time, but the Dallas defense held out for the victory.

"We didn't do well at the end of the game, the last 15 minutes or so, and that's my responsibility. When a team plays that poorly on the road, they're not well coached," said Galaxy coach Bruce Arena. "We blew a lot of points this week. We could have walked away with maybe six points this week, instead we walk away with one, and that's my responsibility. I have not done a good job with this team to get them tactically right at the end of games."

"It was the last 10 minutes. We played our butts off for 80 minutes and then we made a simple mistake on a set piece," said Zardes. "We could have easily gotten a point out of this game. All it takes is being switched off for one second and that happened."
