Lyon extends lead in French Ligue 1

Oct 29, 2006 - 10:50 PM PARIS (Ticker) - Unbeaten Lyon continue to run away with proceedings in Ligue 1 with a 1-0 win over Nancy on Sunday complemented by Marseille's defeat at Nice.

A 13th-minute strike from Norwegian international John Carew proved enough for Les Gones against their third-placed opponents, as they stretched their lead at the top of the standings to 11 points.

Marseille remain a distant second after a last-minute penalty from Ederson earned Nice a 2-1 victory at the Stade du Ray.

The home side had taken the lead after 25 minutes through Cyril Rool, but Mickael Pagis brought Marseille level in the 61st minute.
