Swansea club record transfer fee for Borja
Aug 11, 2016 - 12:21 PM Swansea City broke their transfer fee record on Thursday with the signing of Atletico Madrid striker Borja Baston for STG15.5 million ($A26.2 million). The 23-year-old has signed a four-year deal, pending international clearance.
The fee exceeds the STG12 million ($A20.3 million) Swansea spent in 2013 to bring Wilfried Bony from Vitesse Arnhem.
Baston, who came through the ranks at Atletico, scored 18 goals last season while on loan at Eibar in the Spanish top flight.
He has also had loan spells at Murcia, Huesca, Deportivo La Coruna and Real Zaragoza.
Baston has been capped by Spain at the under-16, 17 and 19 levels and follows in the footsteps of compatriot and World Cup winner Fernando Llorente, who made the switch last week from Spain to the Liberty Stadium.
