Jade North wants to extend A-League career

Jan 6, 2017 - 5:07 AM Jade North reckons he could easily go around for another A-League season and the Brisbane Roar veteran will approach the club soon to discuss a new contract.

The 34-year-old has played every minute of every match for the Roar so far this season in the heart of one of the competition's most miserly defences.

Like nearly a dozen of his teammates, he is also off contract in a few months, but North is keen extend his storied career for at least another year.

"I'm still feeling fit, still feeling good, my body's the best it's been," North told reporters on Friday.

"Obviously, I've just got to play each game as it comes.

"We'll see what happens, I'm still ready to go, but Brisbane comes first and I've just got to concentrate on the games.

"We haven't discussed anything but obviously I've got to try and sort my future out soon."

Coach John Aloisi was non-committal when asked whether he wants to keep North at the club.

"We have to look at how things go, where we're at at the end of the season with not only Jado, but a few players," he said.

"Jado has done really well. Our (sports science) set-up we've got here... that helps players like Jade at his age stay on the pitch.

"Salary cap is a difficult one. It's not easy, but at the moment we're slowly slowly getting it in place and trying to build for next season as well."

Aloisi faces some huge decisions over the coming weeks and months with other key players such as striker Jamie Maclaren, defender Luke DeVere, midfield lynchpin Thomas Kristensen and goalkeeper Michael Theo also coming off contract.
