Tottenham's Vertonghen to miss six weeks
Jan 20, 2017 - 9:10 AM Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen is expected to miss six weeks with an ankle ligament injury, manager Mauricio Pochettino said Thursday.Vertonghen was forced to leave last weekend's 4-0 win over West Bromwich after turning his left ankle in the second half.
"Jan is OK, he's very positive," Pochettino said on the club's website.
"We expect six weeks, less than at first.
"We don't want to set the time limit. When your mind is positive it's easier to recover."
The centre-back has made 20 Premier League appearances this season and helps anchor a defence that has allowed a league-low 14 goals.
Tottenham, who have won six straight games to move second in the table behind Chelsea, visit Manchester City on Saturday.
