Lallana inks three-year Anfield extension
Feb 22, 2017 - 5:43 PM England international Adam Lallana has extended his stay at Liverpool with a new three-year deal. The midfielder has agreed a new AGBP110,000-a-week, three-year deal - effective from this summer - with the option of a further 12 months.
The new deal is reward for some impressive performances from Lallana in arguably his best season since moving to Anfield in 2014.
The 28-year-old joined the Reds from Southampton, where he had come through the ranks, and said he was "humbled" by the new contract.
"I'm very proud and feel quite humbled by the show of faith from the club and the manager in particular," Lallana told the club website.
"Signing for a club like Liverpool is obviously a big thing - but to re-sign shows you've obviously contributed enough that the people who make the decisions want you to stay longer.
"This is a really good place to be at the moment and, for a player who wants to be part of something special, I can't think of a better club to commit your future to."
Lallana has scored 20 goals in 117 Liverpool appearances to date and follows Philippe Coutinho, who in January signed a new contract to become the club's highest-paid player, in committing his long-term future to the club.
Despite becoming a firm favourite of Reds manager Jurgen Klopp, and being named player of the year for the England national side in 2016, Lallana expects to keep improving now his future is destined to be on Merseyside.
"I think my best years are still ahead of me because I feel so fresh and confident," he said.
