Glory shooting to claim top-four spot

Apr 15, 2017 - 3:20 AM Perth Glory coach Kenny Lowe believes his team is capable of beating Melbourne City by four goals in Sunday's final A-League regular season match to grab a spot in the top four.

Glory host City at nib Stadium where a home elimination final will be on the line.

City sit third on the ladder, three points and seven goals clear of the fifth-placed Glory.

It's a tall order for Perth needing to win by four goals to replace City in the top four.

Glory could end up third if Brisbane Roar don't earn a point against Wellington Phoenix.

Perth already has a 5-0 win to their credit this season over Adelaide and have scored three goals on another seven occasions.

Lowe has his team playing attractive football and is urging his players to shoot for a big win.

"There's a lot of belief in the group and I'm sure if they get a taste of it with a couple of early goals and we go into the second half 2-0 up, the players themselves will drive it," Lowe said.

"We are an attacking team full stop, you can see that by the amount of goals we score. Our focus is to ensure that we don't concede, that's the big thing.

"We are capable of scoring four goals at home there's no doubt about that whatsoever. The big drive is to do what we did against Adelaide and also Brisbane to be frugal on the goals conceded."

While Lowe is confident of his team finding something special, he is aware of the threats that City possess.

"It's easy to see that (Bruno) Fornaroli is their best player in that he scores goal and he's a big player for them. Then there's (Tim) Cahill who is influential," he said.
