Mahazi quits football indefinitely: report
May 10, 2017 - 4:09 AM Melbourne Victory midfielder Rashid Mahazi will reportedly quit football indefinitely for personal reasons, as the club's capture of Rhys Williams looms.According to News Corp, Melbourne-born Mahazi is set to travel with family to the country of his father's birth Kenya in December, though the reason is unclear.
It comes three days after the 25-year-old sat on the bench for Victory's A-League grand-final loss to Sydney FC and would wrap up 73 appearances over four seasons at the club.
Meanwhile, Victory are set to confirm they've signed Perth utility Williams, who played just 16 games for Glory over a turbulent season.
The Sky Blues were among numerous clubs that expressed interest in the 28-year-old Socceroo but all were beaten to the punch by Kevin Muscat's runners-up, who may need central defensive cover given Nick Ansell and Alan Baro are out of contract.
Left-back and Joe Marston Medallist Daniel Georgievski is on the way out, having signed for Newcastle in March.
