Brisbane Roar re-sign Theo, Papadopoulos
Jun 22, 2017 - 5:24 AM Star goalkeeper Michael Theo has re-signed with Brisbane Roar in a boost for their next A-League campaign. The club has also retained defender Avram Papadopoulos' services for another 12 months after his mid-season arrival early this year.
Melbourne-born Papadopoulos played seven games at centre-back during the semi-finalists' 2016-17 season, providing cover for Luke De Vere and Jade North.
Theo, who's played 166 games for the Roar, could become the club's third-most capped player ever by next season's end.
He sits behind Matt McKay (249) and Thomas Broich (203) but is in line to overtake Massimo Murdocca (183) in games played for the club.
The 36-year-old Theo has won three A-League titles with the Roar.
"To have the most successful goalkeeper in A-League history in our team gives us great confidence," coach John Aloisi said.
"Michael continues to be an important member of our squad, and I know he is determined to help the team be successful in 2017/18."
Joe Caletti and Jacob Pepper are the remaining key players yet to be contracted by Brisbane ahead of next season.
