Roar give Gameiro shot at reviving career

Jul 3, 2017 - 10:14 PM Ex-Melbourne City forward Corey Gameiro will attempt to resurrect his injury-hit A-League career at the Brisbane Roar.

Gameiro has signed for next season after missing City's 2016-17 campaign with an ACL injury, enduring his third knee reconstruction in four seasons.

He was axed by City in May and hasn't started a match since November 2015.

The 24-year-old Gameiro, a former Australian youth representative, has 33 A-League caps after also spending time at Wellington and Sydney FC.

Gameiro is expected to begin pre-season training with the Roar on Thursday.

His joins former Melbourne Victory defender Fahid Ben Khalfallah as the club's major off-season signings, while Thomas Broich, Jamie McLaren, Brandon Borrello and Tommy Oar have departed.
