Bridge a free agent after Thai club exit
Jul 6, 2017 - 6:23 AM Former Western Sydney forward Mark Bridge is a free agent after terminating his contract with Thai League 1 club Chiangrai United.Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) has revealed it's been supporting Bridge over the past six months in what it described as a contractual issue.
While the circumstances around his immediate departure remain unclear, the players' union said they were not to do with unpaid wages.
"As a result of circumstances at the club, Mark terminated his contract for just cause in accordance with FIFA regulations," PFA Chief Executive John Didulica said.
"As a consequence, he is now a free agent and entitled to sign with a club of his choosing."
Bridge will look to resume his career as soon as possible, in what will excite potential A-League suitors.
The Wanderers have maintained contact with Bridge since he left the club last May after their grand-final loss to Adelaide.
During that time Bridge's former side Newcastle have attempted to secure his services and his goalscoring pedigree is likely to raise the interest of a host of clubs.
"The support of the PFA over the past six months has been invaluable," Bridge said.
"I wish Chiangrai all the best for the future and look forward to resolving my playing future as soon as possible."
