Manchester rivals target EPL domination
Sep 21, 2017 - 11:50 AM Manchester City and Manchester United look to continue identical early season form that's left them separated in the Premier League table by name only. The neighbours have been dominant in winning four and drawing once so far.
They also have the same goal difference with 16 scored and two conceded, leaving City to go top alphabetically.
Pep Guardiola's men have won five straight games overall, including a 6-0 league thrashing of Watford last week that was their biggest away victory since 1968.
And though things look easy at the moment, the Spanish coach is expecting more.
"Even if it looks like we cannot improve, of course we can improve," Guardiola said.
"Winning games brings confidence. The reason we are here is to win games."
City will be expected to add to their win total on Saturday when they host last-placed Crystal Palace.
The Eagles have been futile at best in becoming the first English club to open a top-flight season with five losses and no goals scored.
Manager Roy Hodgson, who replaced the fired Frank de Boer on September 12, knows it won't be a quick fix.
"It's going to be a long, hard process but I know that there's light at the end of the tunnel ...," he said.
Manchester United could have a tougher task than City when they travel to ninth-placed Southampton.
Chelsea, three points back in third place, will look to keep pace with the leaders when they visit Stoke City.
Liverpool hope to get back on track with a second visit to Leicester City -- who beat them 2-0 in the League Cup -- in four days.
West Ham host Tottenham, Huddersfield are at Burnley, Everton face Bournemouth, Watford visit Swansea, Brighton are home to Newcastle and Arsenal take on West Brom to round out the weekend action.
